New Telecom Bill proposed in US

Om Malik, an industry observer and reporter for Business 21.00, reported that a new ,telecom bill has been proposed in the US Congress. Time will tell if this proposal gains traction and works its way through the legislative process. Stay tuned...

Interesting Bill. I wonder how this will generate more bussiness in the Telecom Field. And I wonder if the law makers are taking the technical dificulties into acount

To the extent that it rationalizes regulations in telecommunications, it could generate more business. If not that, then it could reduce carrier's costs because they have to invest less in jumping through hoops. Further, regulatory arbitrage would be reduced.

I think this bill is an explicit attempt to accomodate technology changes (VoIP in particular).

I feel it is a good first step in regulating new services and technology changes. It would be interesting to see how the telecom industry reacts to this bill.
